THE 2009 CONFERENCE  SASA is pleased to announce that the University of Central Florida, Orlando, will host SASA’s third annual conference April 3-5, 2009.  We expand on the customary pattern of 90 minute panels by adding 30 minute hosted coffee breaks between sessions to enhance networking.

The deadline for submitting a paper proposal is November 30, 2008.

Keep me informed If you would like to received an occasional email updating you on the South Asia Conference and other SASA activities please provide us with your email address.  We will not share this information with anyone else.  Please use the “Join Our Newsletter Community” for on the left of any page on the website.  Warning:  university email managers have become hyper aggressive about trashing what they suspect might be spam.  Recently nearly 15% of people contacting us could not receive even a personal reply, let alone a newsletter.  Offending universities typically throw such email away, notifying neither the sender nor recipient of their action.  Please provide an email address not subject to the whim of such gatekeepers.

Our Friends at BASAS (The British Association for South Asian Studies) will hold their annual conference at Edinburgh 30 March - 1 April, 2009.  We are working with them on coordinating schedules for our 2010 meetings.

“Just wanted to thank you ... for organizing a wonderful conference. I especially liked the 'close-knit-ness' of the participants. I hope the 3rd SASA conference in Orlando will be a blockbuster. I am hoping to be there.”
